Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Vessel Ready collects, how it is used, and the third-party services involved. Plain English; no legalese where we can avoid it.
1. Account Data We Collect
- Email address (used for sign-in, account messages, password reset, and reminders).
- Hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
- Account preferences (units, currency, timezone, notification settings).
- Basic activity timestamps (signup date, last login, last active day) used to keep the Service running and to measure usage.
2. Vessel and Maintenance Data You Enter
The Service stores the vessel, equipment, and maintenance information you create or upload, including:
- Boat profile (name, type, dimensions, hull/engine details).
- Equipment inventory, hour meters, categories, and manufacturers.
- Tasks, schedules, checklists, and completion history.
- Certificates and renewal dates.
- Spare-parts inventory, suppliers, and order lists.
- Service records, defect reports, photos, and uploaded documents (manuals, invoices, PDFs).
- Usage information about how you interact with the Service (pages viewed, features used) so we can improve it.
3. Payments — Stripe
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see, store, or have access to your full card number, CVC, or banking credentials. Stripe handles card data directly under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive only the limited billing metadata Stripe sends back (customer ID, subscription status, plan, last four digits of the card for receipts).
4. Product Analytics — PostHog
We use PostHog for product analytics so we can understand which features are useful, find bugs, and measure performance. Analytics events are tied to your internal user ID, not your email or vessel name. We strip personally identifiable fields (such as email, name, serial numbers, free-text notes, manual contents, filenames, and part numbers) from analytics events before they are sent.
5. Email
We use email to:
- Send account messages (welcome, password reset, billing receipts).
- Send maintenance reminders (overdue tasks, tasks due soon, expiring certificates).
- Respond to support requests.
You can adjust reminder preferences in your account settings.
6. File Uploads
Manuals, photos, certificates, and other documents you upload are stored in managed object storage. They are accessible only by your account (and any organization members you explicitly grant access to) and by Vessel Ready staff for support, security, and abuse-prevention purposes.
7. Data Sharing
Vessel Ready does not sell user vessel maintenance data, account data, or analytics data. We share data only with the service providers required to operate the Service (such as Stripe for payments, the email provider that delivers reminders, the analytics provider, and the object-storage provider), and only as required by law.
8. Data Export and Deletion
You can request a full export of your data, or deletion of your account and associated data, by emailing support@vesselreadyapp.com. We will verify the request comes from the account owner before acting on it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and administrative safeguards (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, regular backups) to protect your data. No system is guaranteed perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
10. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in the application. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
